Central
server
Technology is, of course, very important. Square
has therefore decided to release Bibis LMS for two important operating systems.
These are NT and Unix. The central server on which Bibis LMS and Verity run is
thus either a NT server or a Unix server. You should therefore select one of
these two.
Webserver software
An webserver should also be
put on the server. Not all Internet Servers are supported, although
those of the most important software producers are, these being:
- Netscape
- Microsoft
- Apache
Depending on your choice of central server and your requirements
of the Web environment, Square will be pleased to help you in making a
choice.
Bibis LMS is not normally presented to users directly via the
Internet, but via a local network (LAN or WAN). If you do want to allow access
via the Internet, then security (Firewalls etc) will play a role
here.
Browser
Everyone, both back-office and front-office
users, should install a browser locally on their PC. We would be pleased to give
you more information about which browsers can be used. At the moment the
browsers that can be used are: Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0 SP2 and above and
Netscape Navigator 4.61 and above.
Network
The central
server should, of course, be connected to your network. Bibis LMS makes use of
the industry standard TCP/IP.
