BIBIS
is a complete library package that is succesfully installed at more than 700
libraries throughout Europe. The development takes place in close co-operation
with librarians and documentalists in The Netherlands and abroad. BIBIS is
completely client-server and has a web interface.
 'Transforming
the library into a knowledge center' is one of the missions of Square IS and
also the title of the seminar that was held on February 23rd, 1999. The primary
goal of this seminar was to encourage the parties involved in this challenge and
to answer the frequently voiced question: “How do I attain a more central
position in the information web in the future?”. The advanced BIBIS LMS program
is completely tailored to that future with its Internet application, web
technology, thin client products, by for instance Sun Microsystems, and the
powerful Verity search engine. Clearly a program with unparalleled
possibilities.
