Nearly every organization lends objects. In
which case you need functions such as lending, returning, renewing, reserving
and sometimes extensive subscriptions and members administration as well. At
many locations where it is required, Bibis LMS offers you the facility of
searching the catalogue. For example, for a reservation you can quickly
search for the book or title. The latter is dependent on the form of your
organization and the possibilities you want for distinguishing members by
possibilities and requirements. It is important that the lending and returning
procedures are watertight. Barcodes enable you to work quickly and efficiently.
However you want to handle lending, the system will always be able to provide
you with information about the borrower and associated information such as other
loans, reservations, borrower data, any financial data, etc.
Reservations
can be made or cancelled directly. Renewals can be made per individual object, a
number at the same time or all.
The advantages of Web technology are
evident here as well. The Web pages can be as long as we need them. It is not
necessary to swap screens to display large amounts of information. And, of
course, you can print directly from the screen.
If wished, the
user/customer can retrieve information recorded against his name himself.
Reminders, lending tickets and notices can, of course, be printed out against
time and name. This dynamic module is used to build up statistics in order to
retain as much information as possible that will support your management in
taking decisions.
This module takes account of the optimal method of
working for each of the various types of libraries and Knowledge Centers.
Comprehensive subscription-dependent data is available for public libraries.
Special statistics are available for the various authorities. A cash
administration has also been included for those libraries that require payment
for certain services.
To communicate directly with the librarians in
charge, users can send a completed HTML page via e-mail in the Bibis OPAC from a
screen in which a title is shown individually. This can be seen as making a
reservation that can then be dealt with further in the library. An order can be
passed on in a similar way, and can then be judged on its merits in the library
and dealt with.
