Square has developed the 'journals' module especially for company libraries and Knowledge Centers. This module consists of the following parts:

• Readers and journals administration
  Function:
  - Setting parameters;
  - Describing the journal title;
  - Inputting the readers list;
  - Defining the printing layout for the circulation ticket;
  - Having the issues of the journals to be entered prepared in advance;
  - Entering the issues of the journals received.
  
• Circulation
  Function:
  Returning and lending journals require just one operation using barcode technology. Bibis LMS supports both star circulation and line circulation, whether in combination or not.
  
• Reminders to suppliers
  Function:
  Reminders to suppliers in their own language.
  
• Reminders
  Function:
  Each individual reader or group of readers can be reminded that they have had a journal for longer than the period of time agreed for that journal.
  
• Statistics
  Function:
  Bibis LMS presents as standard a number of statistics with regard to journals administration and the circulation of journals.

This is a very important module for organizations with large numbers of subscriptions and often more than one subscription per journal. Not only does it save a lot of time, but its clever organization optimizes circulation such that fewer subscriptions are required, giving financial savings. Circulation is prioritized and is able to take account of the fact that certain readers may not be present at a particular time and so can be missed out temporarily. Not just circulation, but also distribution is possible by means of procedures that can be laid down.

The supplier is checked at the start because Bibis LMS knows, on the basis of information and a perpetual calendar, when particular issues should have arrived. In the event of non-delivery, a supplier can be given a reminder. We call the circulation in Bibis LMS star circulation, with the facility to include groups of readers as well as individual readers. In Bibis LMS, therefore, line circulation is star circulation with just one group of readers. Simple and very efficient. Returning and issuing individual issues of a journal take place simply by reading the barcodes assigned. Lists of information can be retrieved at any time. Information for financial transactions and budget calculations form part of this module as well.
