Innovation requires support and
information. If you
live in either the Netherlands or Belgium and have a strongly innovative spirit
or are in charge of a company that is innovative in some way or another, chances
are that you are familiar with either Senter or IWT. These organizations are
each other’s equal in The Netherlands and Belgium when it comes to supplying
financial support to highly innovative ventures.
On their Internet site,
the Belgian IWT describes itself as follows: The IWT is the only
government institution that stimulates and supports technological innovation in
Flanders. The IWT was founded by decree on January 23rd, 1991. Its assignments
were redefined in the so-called innovation decree of May 18th, 1999. At this
point, the name of the institute became IWT – Flanders: Institute for the
promotion of Innovation by Science and Technology in Flanders. The IWT supports
in particular small and medium sized organizations in seeking technical advice
from the array of organizations offering such advice, and in choosing the most
appropriate support measure or instrument for solving their innovation problem.
The activities of the IWT are aimed at all Flemish companies that are interested
in European research initiatives, who wish to valorize these or are searching
for new technologies. http://www.IWT.be
On their Internet site, the Dutch Senter
describes itself as follows: Senter is an agency under the Dutch
Ministry of Economic Affairs and is responsible for the execution of subsidies,
credit and fiscal measures and programs in the areas of technology, energy,
environment, export and international partnerships. Their aim is to strengthen
the position of Dutch organizations and knowledge institutes. If you have
innovative ideas and are looking for financial assistance for the realization of
your project, Senter might be able to help you. Senter has about € 635 million
of government funds at its disposal which you as an entrepreneur may be eligible
for. http://www.senter.nl
Both institutions have in common that
they use BIBIS LMS in their information center and make information available to
end users with the aid of our outstanding BIBIS OPAC.
